MarcDuino Boards

Square

The standard MarcDuino system uses two boards, a Master and a Slave (see the overview). The Master hooks up to the radio, 10 dome panel servos, the sound system and the Slave board. The Slave in turn hooks up to the Teeces dome lights, the holo lights, the holo servos, PSI lights, and the Magic Panel. Slave and Master are essentially the same boards (actually, exactly the same for v1.1 and v1.5), but the firmware that runs on it is different.

Most builders use just two boards in the dome. Some builders use the SHADOW+MarcDuino system that uses 3 boards: a Master and a Slave in the dome, plus another Master in the body for the body panel control.

V1 Board

MarcDuino v1

The MarcDuino v1 (v1.0 or v1.1 boards) is the original DIY board. The v1 prototype for all other versions, so much of the MarcDuino system info is still found here. The v1 boards still working can be modified to run the v2 firmware with all the latest features. However, these form factor is no longer supported and we recommend you use the better laid out v1.5 boards for new builds.

MarcDuino v2

The MarcDuino v2 was a huge upgrade. It had cleanly marked labels, a piggy-back power supply, an integrated socket for the XBee radios, and add support to connect I2C gadgets. However because it used surface mount components, it was not DIY. Marc made only one large run of them. They are now all sold out and Marc will not be doing another run of the V2 boards. We recommend that you use the MarcDuino v1.5 instead. The 1.5 boards are essentially the replacement of the v2 in a much smaller footprint and you can DIY build these again.

MarcDuino v1.5

The MarcDuino v1.5 is the current and recommended MarcDuino. It is the most widely used MarcDuino board to date and the most compact in size of the MarcDuinos. These Inherit all the goodies of the v2, except for the integrated power supply and XBee socket and also returns the DIY build-ability original v1. It is easier to produce in small quantities, so you can order a pre-built and tested set from Astromech.net builder Mowee.

MarcDuino 1.5 REVISION 3

In the near future there will be a MarcDuino 1.5 REVISION 3 that will have new labeling and some layout changes to take advantage of the upcoming V3 firmware updates. New features will allow for animation of all 13 Dome panels. The 1.5 REV3 will retain the DIY build-ability of the v1.5 and will also be available fully built and tested from Astromech.net builder Mowee.
